The Beginning

The engineers and authorities in the Kingdom felt the necessity of a council that will take care of the engineering profession and work on making a suitable environment for its development. The idea was brought into the first seminar on the Development of Engineering Profession in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which was conducted by the Faculty of Engineering at King Saud University on 23/04/1398 AH (01/04/1978). It was re-discussed in the second seminar which was held under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Commerce on 25/04/1400 AH (12/11/1980), and the Engineering Committee came into existence after the 3rd Saudi Engineering seminar held in Riyadh during 14-15/08/1402, where a decree by His Excellency the Minister of Commerce was issued under no. 264 dated 16/09/1402 announcing the formation of the Engineering Consulting Committee.
